Summary:
Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Federally recognized tribe operating under the Revised Constitution and By laws of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. Leech Lake Reservation is located approximately 230 miles north of the Twin Cities in northern Minnesota. Thirteen Indian communities make up the Reservation, Ball Club, Bena, Cass River, Cass Lake, Inger, Kego Lake, Mission, Oak Point, Onigum, S Lake, Sugar Bush, Suger Point and Winnie Dam.

JPEG pic of Leech Lake Band location on Minnesota MapThe Reservation is split among four counties, Cass, Beltrami, Hubbard, and Itasca. Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe has over 8900 enrolled members with about half living in or near the Reservation.

Tribally owned businesses include: Palace Casino and Hotel, Northern Lights Casino and Convention Center, White Oak Casino, Che-Wa-Ka-E-Gon Gift Shop and Mini Mart, Northern Lights Express Gas Station, Shigobee on the Bay.

Other entities that call Leech Lake home are: Leech Lake Tribal College, Bug O Nay Ge Shig School, Minnesota Chippewa Tribe Headquarters, Cass Lake Indian Health Service Hospital and Clinic, and the Chippewa National Forest Headquarters.
